Strategic Buyer (32–40 hours)

What will you do?

As a Strategic Purchaser, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the procurement strategy within our organization. Drawing on your expertise, you will build long-term relationships with logistics service providers (rail, sea, trucking, and related services) and ensure a cost-efficient, reliable, and future-proof supplier network.

You will work closely with Sales, Finance, and Operations, play a crucial role in digitizing the procurement process, and mentor the sourcing specialist in her professional development.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing the procurement strategy with a focus on sustainability and efficiency.
• Analyze market signals and translate them into appropriate network and risk strategies.
• Managing product groups within rail, sea, trucking, and related services.
• Conducting complex contract negotiations.
• Exploring alternative routes and modes of transportation.
• Coordinate group-wide procurement with internal departments.
• Implementing digital sourcing tools.
• Improving supplier performance through KPIs and joint improvement projects.
• Managing, motivating, and developing sourcing staff.
• Contributing ideas on strategic sales opportunities and major tender processes.

Job requirements

• A college-level education, preferably in a relevant field (e.g., logistics, business administration, or supply chain management).
• NEVI 1 and/or NEVI 2 is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with strategic procurement in the logistics sector is a plus.
• Experience with digitizing procurement processes is a plus.
• You have experience in planning, organizing, and managing.

From our office in Rotterdam's Botlek district, our dedicated team and modern fleet of 1,500 tank containers provide safe, efficient, and flexible logistics solutions. Since our foundation in 1997, we have grown into a strong player in the logistics sector.

At the same location, we work together with three companies, each of which handles a different aspect of the logistics chain. RBC is a modern terminal for the storage and handling of loaded (tank) containers, including facilities for heating and customs inspections. RCC focuses on the sale, rental, and modification of containers. CETEM is an expert in the storage and inspection of empty containers and reefers, and also provides maintenance and repair services. By joining forces, we can offer customers a complete and efficient range of services, all at a single location.
