ADR transport in tank containers
Transport of dangerous liquid chemicals in bulk throughout Europe, by road, rail and water. With our own tank containers, as an SQAS-certified company within Responsible Care.
ADR TRANSPORT
Dangerous liquids safely from A to B
RMI transports liquid chemicals in tank containers throughout Europe, both hazardous (ADR) and non-hazardous. We do this with our own fleet of more than 1,100 chemical tank containers and a team that has been doing this since 1997.
Our operation complies with ADR regulations. As an SQAS-evaluated company, we participate in the Responsible Care program of CEFIC and ECTA. This way you know that your product is treated according to the rules at every step of the chain.

ADR transport, organized intermodally
Many ADR transports do not involve traveling the entire distance by road. In intermodal transport, the truck travels only to the train or the ship and back from the terminal to the delivery location. The long distance is traveled by rail, for example to Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic or Hungary, or by sea to destinations such as Finland, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Norway.
There are specific rules for each route: the ADR for road transport, the RID for rail transport, and the IMDG Code for shipping. We coordinate the route, the tank, and the documentation, and where possible, use our own inland terminal.

"Through intensive collaboration between our teams, customers and suppliers, we offer efficient, cost-effective and forward-thinking logistics solutions.'
Preparation
What we need from you
With this information, we choose the right tank container and route together:
- UN number, transport name, class and packaging group, or the confirmation that your product is not subject to the ADR
- The safety information sheet (VIB)
- The charging and discharging temperature, and whether the product needs to remain warm during transportation
- The loading and unloading address, with loading times and requirements of the location
- Special requirements for the tank, such as a coating or heating

Certifications and Care
Safety & Compliance
Responsibility and safety are core values for our chemical logistics. As an SQAS-evaluated company, we are part of the Responsible Care program of CEFIC/ECTA and apply the highest safety and compliance standards, including those for the transport of dangerous goods. Our approach not only generates the highest level of safety as a must in logistics, but this standard is part of our daily lives. This commitment results in safe transport of hazardous and non-hazardous goods at every stage of the process.
About ADR transport with RMI
Frequently Asked Questions
What is ADR transport?
ADR transport is the transport of dangerous substances by road under the European ADR Convention. This sets out how a substance is classified, which tank is suitable, which documents are required, and what requirements apply to the vehicle and driver.
Which products does RMI transport under ADR?
Liquids in bulk, in tank containers. We transport both hazardous (ADR) and non-hazardous chemicals, as well as liquid food and feed.
Does the ADR also apply to rail and sea transport?
No. The ADR applies to the road. For the rail sector, the RID applies, and for the sea sector, the IMDG Code. In intermodal transport, the truck travels under the ADR to the train or the ship, and the regulations for rail or sea transport apply for the long distance section.
Does an empty tank container still fall under the ADR?
Yes, as long as the tank has not been cleaned. The labels remain attached and a transport document accompanies it. Only after cleaning does that expire.
What data does RMI need for a quote?
The UN number and the class of your product (or the confirmation that it is not subject to the ADR), the safety information sheet, the loading and unloading temperature, the loading and unloading address and any requirements for the tank.
